Frequently Asked Questions

Questions & Answers

Where are you situated? How do I find you?

Our shop can be found at 22 Rakotoka Street in Swakopmund. We are opposite the Municipality of Swakopmund. On the corner next to Karakulia Weavers and the Puma service station. From the Henties Bay road, coming from the center of town (past Food Lover’s Market), turn right at the traffic lights just after Natis. We’re on the corner on the right. Get Directions

How does sizing work? What size must I take?

Our shoes are all made from genuine kudu leather and as the leather does stretch we always recommend taking one size smaller than your standard UK shoe size. If you do however wear orthopedic insoles, you can take your standard shoe size. If you still aren’t sure, take a look at our sizing guide and how to measure your feet for the best fit.

How do I care for my leather shoes?

Caring for the leather of your shoes is important to ensure the longevity of the leather and to maintain the look and quality of your shoes. Different types of leather require different care. Here are our guidelines. Download your leather care guide here.

Why kudu leather?
The most notable trait about kudu hides is that they are as soft as deerskin but much thicker and more durable. The scars that develop are one of the most distinct characteristics of the leather as they are preserved in the hide during the tanning process. This makes each pair of our Swakop Vellies unique.
What are the shop trading hours / opening times?
The shop is open Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 to 17:00. We are open over lunch. We are also open on Saturdays from 8:00 to 13:00. Closed on Sundays.
What do I do if my leather shoes get wet?

Allow them to dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Once completely dry, treat the leather following our care guide.

Can I wear my leather shoes without socks?
Yes you can. All our insoles are made from a special leather, a game veg tan, which is chrome free. This leather has not been died and therefore is free of any chemicals and substances. This means it is safe to wear our shoes barefoot.
